Linehaul Driver Roy Libengood is a hardworking and safe truck driver at PITT OHIO’s Cleveland, Ohio terminal facility. He’s more than a good truck driver as his name might suggest, Roy Libengood is a great driver because he has been consistently safe for over 3,000,000 miles. A linehaul driver with this many miles of safe driving is not as common as you may think.
Before getting hired by PITT OHIO in 1991, Roy held a truck driving job with unfavorable hours. He did not like sleeping in the bunk in the truck and taking showers at truck stops. Roy searched for a new company with the best truck driving job for him. “I was on the hunt for a company that was stable, growing, and treated its employees well. I wanted to find a good place to hang my hat, so to speak,” Roy said.
Before long, Roy found the truck driving job that was just the right fit. When he started at PITT OHIO over 30 years ago, Roy’s first driving route was from Cleveland to Pittsburgh and back again. Back then, drivers in some cities would lay over at different terminals twice a week. PITT OHIO recognized that by changing this practice to getting their linehaul drivers home daily, they could give their truck drivers a better quality of life.
“The best thing PITT OHIO did was eliminate layovers and add nightly turns,” Roy said. “By being home daily, I’m able to sleep in my own bed, eat home cooked meals, get my chores and projects done at home, and enjoy family time.”

On the road, Roy follows and adheres to the safety practices he learned from PITT OHIO’s regular training. His step-by-step routine for pre-trip inspections of his tractor and trailer ensures he’s covered all of the bases and guarantees he makes it home safely. Providing a steady and stable income has always been Roy’s goal. To be successful, he knew he also had to do it as safely as possible. Being routine has led Roy to a consistent and safe truck driving career.
